Priorities

As your Commonwealth's Attorney, I'm guided by a simple belief: the law should be enforced fairly, consistently, and without exception — and a justice system is only as strong as its commitment to the people it serves. These are the priorities that have shaped my office, and the work I'm asking to continue.

ENFORCE THE LAW FAIRLY

The Commonwealth's Attorney has a duty to enforce the laws passed by the Virginia General Assembly. My office prosecutes violations of the law consistently and transparently — regardless of personal beliefs, politics, or outside pressure — and always through the fair process the Constitution requires. Every case is judged on its facts.

HOLD SERIOUS OFFENDERS ACCOUNTABLE

Keeping Hanover safe means there is no revolving door for those who threaten it. My office aggressively prosecutes violent and repeat offenders, fentanyl distribution, and organized retail theft. At the same time, our Adult Recovery Court offers an accountable, demanding path out of addiction for the right cases — because being tough on crime and being smart about it are not at odds.

PROTECT CHILDREN AND THE VULNERABLE

Safeguarding children and other vulnerable members of our community is among the most important work my office does. Through the Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Response Teams, our partnership with Internet Crimes Against Children, and service on boards such as Hanover Safe Place and the Virginia Commission on Youth, I work to shield the people who most need protection — and to hold those who exploit them accountable.

SUPPORT OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTNERS

The men and women who keep our community safe deserve a true partner in the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. My office provides training and day-to-day legal guidance to the Hanover Sheriff's Office, the Ashland Police Department, and the Virginia State Police. We work to keep the bonds between our office, law enforcement, and the community strong.

STAND WITH VICTIMS

No one should have to navigate the justice system alone. My office guides victims through every step with dignity and full respect for the Victims' Bill of Rights, and we make sure the victim's voice is heard in plea negotiations and at sentencing.

COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING

My office created and leads Hanover's Human Trafficking Multidisciplinary Team, building it from a local effort into a regional partnership and hosting an annual summit that brings law enforcement, legislators, service providers, educators, and survivors together to confront this crime. Protecting our region from traffickers — and helping their victims recover — remains a focus of my work.
